The dog vomited a yellow lump or it may be due to gastritis

Dog gastritis refers to acute or chronic inflammation of the gastric mucosa of dogs. Some can spread to the intestinal mucosa and cause gastroenteritis. Gastritis is the most common disease in dogs. Dog gastritis can be divided into two types: acute gastritis and mantle gastritis. Among them, acute gastritis is the most common.

Causes of dog gastritis

1. Dogs overeat or eat rotten and undigested food.

2. Or complications from infectious diseases such as canine distemper, canine infectious hepatitis, parvovirus enteritis, liver flukes, pancreatitis, nephritis and parasitic diseases.

3. It may be caused by long-term irritation of the gastric mucosa, anemia, achlorhydria, or malnutrition.

4. Or caused by taking strong irritating drugs.

Symptoms of dog gastritis

1. Dog gastritis will cause listlessness, vomiting and abdominal pain as its main symptoms.
2. In the early stage of gastritis, food residue or white foam will be vomited out. The vomitus may be mixed with blood, bile and even mucosal fragments.
3. The sick dog has increased thirst, but will vomit after drinking water.
4. Appetite is significantly reduced or refuses to eat, or feels uneasy due to abdominal pain.

Principles of prevention of dog gastritis

1. The principle is: protect the dog’s gastric mucosa, inhibit vomiting, remove the cause, and prevent dehydration.
2. Stop feeding spoiled food and irritating drugs. If you stop eating for more than 24 hours, you can give a small amount of water or ice cubes several times to keep your mouth moist. Then feed them sugar and salt rice soup, or high-sugar, low-fat, low-protein, easy-to-digest liquid food, and gradually return to a normal diet after a few days.

3. Clean the stomach contents: At the beginning of the disease, when harmful substances still remain in the stomach, emetics can be used. Later, when harmful substances enter the intestines, laxatives should be used.
